Thursday Thirteen!

Here we go....

I recently purchased the Book "Why Do Men Have Nipples?" and here are 13 interesting questions that the book asks....

  1. What causes an ice cream headache?
  2. Does coffee stunt your growth?
  3. Why do you get the munchies when you're stoned?
  4. Should you put a steak on a black eye?
  5. Can you get "scared to death"?
  6. Is there such a thing as a werewolf?
  7. Why do you see stars when you are hit in the head?
  8. What are age spots?
  9. What's up with the ear hair?
  10. Should you starve a cold and feed a fever?
  11. Do microwaves cause cancer?
  12. Why does hair turn gray?
  13. Can you swallow your tongue?

I'll be answering the questions in future blog entries in case you are interested in any of the answers!!! You know how to play...leave a comment, get a link :-) Happy Thursday!

Me and Mr. Linky-not currently on friendly terms!

So every week, I see all the "cool" people with the Thursday Thirteen and their "cool" little Mr. Linky where you don't have to worry about posting everyone's name. Well, Me and Mr. Linky are not currently speaking! I signed up for the thing, thinking "this is going to make my Thursdays so much easier!" Has it? No. Have I been able to use it? No. Why you ask? I can't figure out how to do it! So...needless to say, me and Mr. Linky have broken ties and I'll continue to spend my Thursdays putting up everyone's name like all the "uncool" people. Bitter? Oh yes.

I love kids. It's not something that I hide well either. So this weekend when my little cousin was in town, we had such a blast. I was able to play with her and get her to laugh and giggle. She enjoyed my parents pool as well! She walked around saying "pool" all day and would go to anyone willing to take her in the pool! She even had her own little dolphin floating device that she sat in very contently. I just can't believe how darn cute she is! And so smart. Her motor skills are wonderful. Even fiance was impressed with the amount of talent and smarts she has already at 18 months.

On another front, we think we may have figured out where we want our honeymoon. Fiance wants to go to St. Lucia and I'm fine with where ever we go as long as: there is a pool, there is sun and there is the ocean. We found a great Sandals Resort there that has gotten rave reviews on trip advisor as well. So we're checking out the options and seeing what we think we can get as a deal too! I think that is the most exciting part of planning: where are we going on our honeymoon?!?!?!

Has anyone been to St. Lucia? Where did you go on your honeymoon (if you've had one)?

Weekend Wrap-up

The family reunion was awesome! Fiance and I both had a great time. We got up to my hometown around 9:30 on Friday night and were up around 7:15am to start preparing. Fiance went to help my dad and I helped mom. It was fun. People started showing up around 12:30 and we left around 7:45pm. It was such a blast. My uncle who lives in my hometown flew up my other uncle (who lives in FL) and his wife and young daughter. It was a blast to see them. My uncle from FL had not been to WI in over 25 years. So needless to say, he was re-introduced to his family again :-)

Today is just cleaning, some grocery shopping and some relaxing. I can't believe tomorrow is Monday already.

How was your weekend?

P.S. That is a picture of my young cousin from FL. Isn't she adorable?

And the winner is...

So I've been getting these messages on my office phone saying that I won this bridal package and some perky woman keeps going "I can't wait to discuss the prizes in your package so please call me back at 555-5555 and we'll get that package out to you very soon. I am looking foward to talking with you and very excited about your win." I'm sure at the end she flipped her hair and did that smile as well. (Okay that wasn't very nice!) First of all, I don't remember signing up for any bridal packages and secondly, I don't believe I would have given out my work number. Nevertheless, it reminded me of a scam and I am refusing to call them back. What would you do?

Secondly, this week has just flown by. Dinner for my grandma was really nice...there were 12 of us and we had a great time. My mom made her a cake and we all ate and then enjoyed the wonderful Funfetti cake. My grandma loves the game SkipBo so I beat her twice in that game as well!

Yesterday, I had attended a "Children Come First" conference and it went well. I saw an excellent speaker on "Love and Logic" when parenting and dealing with children. It was very informative and I enjoyed his speech. He has four children of his own so he used some real experiences to tie in with his speech which I believe made the whole presentation believeable.

Today, I am just working and then heading back up to my parents (this time with fiance in tow) to help set up for the family reunion tomorrow. It's supposed to be 90 tomorrow so my relatives from FL will stop complaining about how "cold" it is up here. I do have some funny stories, but I think I'll save them for now. Any big plans this weekend?

Thirteen Thurday--EARLY!

Now, this week the banner is from Goofy girl!

Yes, I know it's only Wednesday, however, I am going to be gone tonight and at a conference tomorrow so I wouldn't be able to post until late tomorrow...and I wouldn't want to keep you all waiting! I will update this with links and visit others tomorrow night after the conference! Happy Thursday to you all!

Thirteen Things You Never Needed To Know About Me!

1. When I was younger, I had 3 imaginary friends (Eke, Peno, Doua Doua)
2. I have had a popples since I was very young and it still is on my bed!
3. I decided to cut my curtains when I was little "to see if they would cut" (Needless to say, I spent the rest of the day sitting in bed waiting until my father got home!)
4. While growing up there were older neighbors that lived next door and I "adopted them" as Grandparents.
5. When "Grandpa" passed away when I was 7, it was my first loss.
6. Someone said to name a star after him, but I said "Stars aren't big enough, he is the moon"
7. I have loved the moon ever since!
8. I'm an only child and have always feared something happening to my parents.
9. It took me forever to learn how to ride a two wheel bike. The way my mom got me to do it...bet me $5. If I learned to ride before my dad got home from work, I got $5. Guess who learned how to ride her bike that day?
10. I'm very stubborn and always have been. I was even stubborn before I was born...10 days late and was not coming out!
11. I've never had a huge group of friends. I have always preferred having a few very close friends.
12. I am very much a pack rat. I keep everything. I have just started to realize that it is okay to throw things out that I haven't used or looked at in 5 years (anything sooner than that is still in the closet :-) )
13. I don't know how to swim. I took swimming classes when I was younger and just hated it. My parents have a pool and I float around in there. Well, I do know how to do the doggy paddle!

Fun one

I found this over at Janet's and thought it was cool.

Your Dosha is Pitta

You have a quick mind, a gift for persuasion, and a sharp sense of humor. (very true!)

You have both the drive and people skills to be a very successful leader.

Argumentative and a bit stubborn, you have been known to be a little too set in your ways.

But while you may be biased toward your own point of view, you are always honest, fair, and ethical.
With friends: You are outgoing and open to anyone who might want to talk to you
In love: You are picky but passionate
To achieve more balance: Be less judgmental of those around you, and take cool walks in the moonlight.

Tuesday!

Well, it's Tuesday already! This past weekend, I had the wedding in the Twin Cities. It was a blast! I will post some pictures later on. I am behind on downloading my pictures. She was the most beautiful bride and we had wonderful dresses. My favorite part was the flowers! I will definitely post a picture of the flowers we carried. They were just so bright and wonderful. I had a great time. I got up at 6:45am to make it get my hair done at 8am. Makeup was done at 11 and then at the church at 12:15. Then we took some girl pictures before the wedding, service at 3, more pictures, limo ride to country club, more pictures, then let the party begin! There were wonderful speeches, great food, awesome cake and we danced the night away!

We went to Mall of America on Sunday and spent wayyy too much time and money there, but we had a blast. Then we went to IKEA which is right outside the mall. We found wonderful things for the apartment and we have been re-arranging and hanging new things since we got home. It was so much fun.

This weekend is a family reunion for my mom's side of the family. That should be fun. Tomorrow is my Grandma's 80th birthday (I can't believe that!) I am going up to my home town and we are all going out for dinner to celebrate.

How is your week going?

Monday Morning Humor

I will post more about the weekend later, but I got this picture in an email this morning and I thought it was funny. I actually thought of Nello because of a previous post where a neighbor was outside in white underwear and his dog was pooping in her yard! Let me know what you think of this picture!

Gone for the weekend

Fiance and I will be gone to the Twin Cities this weekend for my friend's wedding that I am standing up in! I finally picked up the dress and it fits!! It was freakin' expensive to have altered, but it looks nice. So we're off around noon and will be back Sunday afternoon or late evening. No posts until then!

Happy weekend everyone!!!

Thirteen excuses/reasons I hate to exercise

Banner courtesy of goofy girl
As a side note: my fiance is a personal trainer and I hate to exercise!!!!!
1. My reason for not canceling my membership: I'm hanging on to the hope!!!!
2. When asked if I am going to exercise, I say "Maybe 'morrow!"
3. Seriously, who LIKES to be sore and not able to move!
4. Gyms are like germ incubators.
5. It takes a lot of effort to change into work out clothes, drive to the gym, come home and shower.
6. I hate.hate.hate to sweat!
7. I would feel an obligation to eat better if I exercised.
8. If I did sweat, I would need to drink more water...and ewwww...I just don't like plain water.
9. Honestly, what else would I have to complain about?
10. I hate those people who go to the gym with their hair all made up and their make-up caked on....ummmm honey--you are at a gym....g-y-m.
11. It feels like whenever I'm there, there are at least two men by the weights attempting to lift WAYYY more than they can and grunting louder than I have EVER heard just to prove they can.
12. I love to say "oh I don't need to go to the gym today" "why not?" "Oh, I cleaned the house and took the stairs up to the apartment." Yeah, like that's helpful.
13. Moral of the story: as much as I complain, hate it (yes, even despise it), I still know I need to go. Oh well, maybe 'morrow!
You know how this works...leave a comment (more than just two words or I won't post you...sorry that's how it is!) and I'll leave a link with your name!

Wednesday

Well, today is another busy day. On top of all the work I have piled around me, I have to go pick up a bridesmaid dress. Now granted it's been done for 2 weeks, but have I gone to pick it up?? Noooooo. I'm surprised they haven't called numerous times to get that dress out of their store! I just honestly have not had the motivation to go pick it up. I know I have to pick it up today since the wedding is Saturday and we have to leave early on Friday to make it there (the wedding is 5 1/2 hours away from here). So needless to say instead of picking up the dress, I'm sitting here typing about it. Wow. Motivationally.Challenged.

The next couple weeks are just going to fly by...I can just feel it. Friday through Sunday this weekend we are in St. Paul/Minneapolis for the wedding. Then a week from today is my Grandma's 80th birthday and we are all going out to dinner to celebrate (2 hours from here). Then Thursday morning after the bday I have to get up around 5 to make it to Wisconsin Dells for a conference that I'm helping run a booth at to promote our agency. Then Friday we are going back up to my home town in order to help set up for a family reunion being held at my parent's house (I don't know why they always offer to host these things!!!) on Saturday. Then it's back home to start another week!!!

Whew. I'm tired just thinking about it.

Picky, picky, picky

As I was looking for something to eat for lunch, I realized that I must be one of the pickiest eater ever. And I mean e.v.e.r. Most of the foods that I don't eat aren't really for any good reason, I just don't like the texture or smell, but refuse to try most of them. I went out to eat with fiance a while ago and tried feta cheese (on accident) for the first time and you know what, I actually liked it. Yes, liked it.

I don't eat tomatoes or most vegetables for that matter and I'm very picky about fruit. I won't eat strawberries (I will occasionally) because I think they look like noses that have a lot of blackheads! Strange right? I know.

I don't like peas, however, I will eat split pea with ham soup. Strange again right? I'm trying to get past this extreme pickiness. It isn't fun...I don't like being picky. It also shortens our options for meals.

What are your likes and dislikes? Am I the only one who is this picky?

It's Thursday!

Special thanks to goofy girl for the banner!

With the help of fiance, I am doing my 13 favorite movie quotes!
(Can you get all the movies right?)
***I'll post the answers tomorrow!!!!***
  1. "Jack Sparrow: No. Not good. Stop. Not good. What are you doing? You've burned all the food, the shade, the RUM. Elizabeth: Yes, the rum is gone. Jack Sparrow: Why is the rum gone?"
  2. "I wipe my own ass! I wipe my own ass!!"
  3. "Life should be a little nuts. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of... Thursdays, strung together."
  4. "President Andrew Shepherd: This is a time for serious people, Bob, and your 15 minutes are up. My name is Andrew Shepherd, and I AM the President. "
  5. Max: "My teacher tells me that beauty is on the inside." Dad: "That's just something ugly people say."
  6. Rick: I wanna see your a$$ in the air. Kate: Well until Hercules here learns how to lock his grip, this will have to do... (hint: Toe Pick!!)
  7. "Back to school....back to school...show my dad...I'm not a fool"
  8. "I just don't think that Brooke could've done this. Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't kill their husbands, they just don't."
  9. "Mr. Madison, what you have just said, is the most insanely idiotic thing I have ever heard. At no point, in your rambling incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul. "
  10. "Tess: You're a thief and a liar. Danny: I only lied about being a thief."
  11. "The way I see it, you got two choices. You either gotta get busy livin'... or get busy dyin' "
  12. "I have what doctors like to call a little bit of a weight problem. "
  13. "ROBBIE:Hey,I don't know your last name. GLENN:It's Gulia. ROBBIE:Gulia!Julia's last name's gonna be Gulia!Julia Gulia!That's funny! GLENN:Why is that funny? ROBBIE:I-I don't know. "

Okay, you know the rules. Just like always, leave a comment so I can put your link up (and you have to say something more than "mine's up") This week, however, try to guess the movies. The person with the most correct will win....well, you'll just feel special! :-) Isn't that enough? Good luck!

What a week!

Well, this week has had its ups and downs. Tuesday I went to a Brewer game with fiance and his friend. Then Thursday we went to the Tim McGraw/Faith Hill Soul 2 Soul II tour. Now some people like country and some don't, but I will post a picture of the concert. If you don't like country, that's fine, just don't leave nasty messages.

Then yesterday, my puppy was put to sleep. My parents said it did not take her long to go which is good. She really was the best puppy anyone could ask for. She is now in doggy heaven bragging about how cool her owners were :-) That's what's keeping me smiling! I know she was one of the most spoiled dogs ever!

Other than that, it's cleaning this weekend and maybe having some friends over for dinner. Since I do okay with making lasagna, that's what I'll make. How was your week?

I'm thinking about starting a "Would you rather" Monday or something. We'll see how that goes. And on a happy front, goofy girl has started my new blog design and it's coming along great! Hopefully it'll be up and running this summer so we can do a big debut! :-)

Happy Saturday!

A Thursday without a 13? What?

Sorry everyone, but I'm taking today off. Fiance and I took the day off together so we're going away for the day. I know you all will miss me terribly, but try to get over it :-)

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Instead of having 13, read the two posts below. Thanks!

Everyone....meet Cashew!

This is my puppy, Cashew. She is 13 1/2 years old. Unfortunately, she has become pretty old, pretty fast and is being put down on Friday. I was very upset about this at first, but I visited her last weekend and realized that she's not enjoying her doggy life anymore. She is soooo cute! She is 12 pounds and has been the light of my mom's life. She has doggy alzeihmer's (sp?) too because she doesn't seem to remember where she is! She is still a good eater and loves popcorn, peanut butter and other things. She had some lasagna this past Christmas too :-)

I just thought I would introduce her to everyone so that you can all see why she is so special to me! Oh and the only trick I taught her (my mom was in charge of tricks) was pointing to my face and saying "kissy" and oh boy were you attached with kisses!!!! What a loving and wonderful dog. She will truly be missed!!!! So say hello to Cashew!!!

Weekend wrap-up

Well, it was quite the weekend. I went up to see my mom on Saturday morning and stayed until this morning. It was great to see her. I found out on Friday that my parents made an appointment to put my puppy to sleep this Friday. I'm not doing too well with this. So on top of giving mom presents and going out to eat, I had to say goodbye to my puppy. This pretty much broke my heart. She's 13 1/2 and THE BEST PUPPY EVER!!!!
I was trying to upload a picture, but it won't let me. I'll post it tomorrow.

Anyway, on to some happy news...I asked my "sister" (yes, I'm an only child, but she's the closest I have to a sister) to be my maid of honor this weekend and she said YES! So that was super exciting. I can't wait to have a helper :-)

Well, that's it for me. I'll post that picture soon :-)

Friday

I don't have much to say today (imagine that!) I am glad it's Friday. I've had an annoying stomach ache for three days now.

However, I am excited that Goofy Girl has said she would help me makeover my blog when summer vacation starts!!!! I am so excited. Check her out...she has other designs available too. There is a link to her designs from her webpage.

Also, if you haven't checked Janet out, you should! She has entertaining and fun posts! She does a "What Is It" on Wednesday and does the TT on Thursdays! Enjoy those two.

Happy Friday everyone!

It's that time again....

Thirteen Things That Stress This Blogger Out!
1. Thinking about going back to school full-time and working full-time
2. Having a lot of things due at work at the same time!
3. Having four weddings this summer, two of which I'm in
4. The cost of those two weddings I'm in
5. Thinking about all the planning for my wedding (and attempting some of it!)
6. Trying to keep this apartment clean with all the other things
7. Paying all the bills (and on time even!)
8. Keeping up with all my emails (you'd be surprised that this honestly is a struggle some days!)
9. Trying to catch up on scrapbooking instead of stuff being all over the apartment
10. Finishing up a blanket for my parents that I thought I would have given them last year for Christmas (oops)
11. Wasting too much time and then realizing that I can't get things done that I need to.
12. Not getting enough sleep because then the next day is oh so not fun!
13. Does anyone want to be in an online book club? (Just checking to see if you read to the bottom!)
Just like every other week, leave me a message and I'll put you up. Don't just leave "nice list, mine's up" or I won't list you. Sorry, that's the way it is.
4. Goofy Girl (she skipped this week, but check her out anyway!)

one more thing today...

I wasn't going to write anything today, but does anyone have a random blog design laying around or wants to share with me? I am so sick of the stupid ones that blogger gives you choices of and I don't know how to design my own. OH well, just a thought.

Just a simple picture....

Our hiking trip!

Read below to find where these came from!

  • My experiment with black and white. This is a shelter for backpackers who want to camp out. We are looking out at a really cool outlook!

This trout was in a really clear spring where you can ONLY catch and release! A grave stone at a super old cemetary. This was from 1800.
This old cabin was also from the 1800's. It's boarded up though. Still awesome!

Book Club

So, my really good friend, Katie (who I called my sister--long story!) and I were talking today about how much we love to read and how it would be SO neat to join a book club. Then we thought about how we could run an online book club through a blog.....so.....would anyone be interested? It probably wouldn't be up and running for a few months yet. Any takers? Leave me a message and let me know what you think. We wouldn't read books from the 1800's either!

Weekend update!

Well, this weekend just flew by! I can't believe it's Monday and I'm working again! For those that left me comments on Friday, I kind of got a new outfit for the wedding. I got a new shirt and put it with a skirt I already had and I was satisfied. Fiance and I looked really nice for the wedding! It was soooo much fun and we even got up and danced a few times! Instead of a cake, they had a chocolate fountain and instead of a "head" table, they sat at the round tables among everyone else! It was great!!!!

Yesterday, we went hiking and biking. Now, I am not the most active person in the world and so I.am.sore. I don't even know how long we went but we were gone for almost 5 hours. It was a blast though! I will post some pictures from the trip if anyone wants to see them! Just let me know. We saw an old cemetery that had a few headstones from 1796!!!! The trail is called the Ice Age Trail and goes all through Wisconsin. It's such a neat trail. If anyone lives in WI, I highly suggest going on at least part of the trail!

Today, I am back to work and the apartment is still not clean. Hmmm....bummer! Thankfully all the dishes are done and everything is picked up, it's just the dusting and vacuuming that needs to be done!

Happy Monday!!!

Another week gone by...

Honestly, I can't believe it's Friday. I have had a very hectic week and it's ending with an even more hectic Friday. I am currently *ahem* working and then from 12-2 I have grad. school orientation. Then since I worked 10 hours the other day, I am taking off this afternoon. I don't think I ever did post about my Wednesday. (Note to all--I am NOT a morning person). I woke up at 4:00am (no, that's not a typo) and got ready to leave. I then drove an hour to get to a radio station before 6:30am to be interviewed for the agency I work for. Now, I love being on the radio...it's fun, energetic and the hosts were a blast. However, I'm not pretty at 6:30am nor do I try to be pretty at that time. So thankfully this was radio and not TV. Then I drove another hour home to continue working for another 8 hours for a total of 10 1/2 hours of work. Now, I do realize that some people work 10 or 12 hour shifts, however, I don't so that was a long ass day for me.

We have a wedding to go to tomorrow and of course I have.nothing.to.wear. Nothing. I keep trying to tell fiance that but he just doesn't believe me when he opens up my closet and stuff falls out! hmmm...I need to work on another strategy I think. I told him that I *guess* I'll try to come up with something. I do need shoes though.

Anyway, that's it for me. How was your week? Paris was cut from American Idol, CSI and Without a Trace were excellent. I hear Amazing Race is getting down to the wire and Alias is heating up before the final show ever! I'm excited for Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy this week. When Meredith says "You have no right to call me a whore" or something like that. Hmmm, that'll be interesting.

Anyway, I'm off. Have great weekends and comon people, you visit, at least say hi!

Thursday Thirteen!

Thirteen TV Shows Amy Loves!

1. FRIENDS--I will always love this show! It's just one of my favorites (I have almost all the seasons on DVD).
2. Grey's Anatomy--What a wonderful, fairly new, show. I enjoy the characters, the story lines and the humor of the show!
3. Alias--I never liked this show at first, but a friend loves it and got me watching it. Now I'm hooked and it ends soon!
4. American Idol--I really do enjoy watching these 'artists'. Some are good and some are bad, but overall, I just enjoy the singing and watching people strive for their dreams.
5. Desperate Housewives--although I do think last season was better than this season, it's still great to see those 5 ladies so their things on the show!
6. Prison Break--I'm glad to see they are finally starting to escape (although I missed the last 15 min. last week cause fiance came home and had a rough day at work) so I'll be curious to see where they are next show!
7. Amazing Race--I used to watch this one all the time but then they moved it to Wednesday and it runs the same time as AI results so I don't get to see this one any more. **Thanks Carmen for catching my original mistake :-)
8. Extreme Makeover-Home Edition--yes, this show makes me cry, maybe that's why I watch it. And yes, I like Ty (he's super hyper, but it's great!)
9. The View--I do enjoy watching this if I take a short break in the morning (10-10:15 my time) just to catch them debating "Hot Topics" I am going to miss Meredith and I honestly don't know if I'll watch it when she's gone. Star drives me nuts.
10. Oprah--if she has an interesting topic or a cool guest star, I will watch her. I enjoyed watching her series on Debt Dieting and it taught me a lot on how to manage mine and fiance's budgets so it's worth it!
11. Everybody Loves Raymond--another show I was sad to see go, but there are always repeats on TBS that I catch every once in a while. It's a good show to watch while working out too because you can laugh and you forget how much pain you are putting your body through (haha!)
12. CSI:--LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this show! I love all the characters, I love watching them try to figure things out...I just love it!
13. Without a Trace--this is actually one that fiance enjoys too and he gets excited to watch this one. Not so gory and I really enjoy seeing them put all the pieces together by the end. Although I do not like it when they find out the person is already dead. That's sad :(

American Idol night!

Who do you think did best tonight?

Who do you think will be kicked off?

Let me know after the show. It'll be interesting to see what you all think. I'll post my thoughts after the show!

**For some reason, blogger wouldn't allow me to update last night, however, I do believe that Paris will be going home (actually, I think it's more of a hope...I'm just over her now and I wouldn't buy her CD, that's for sure!) What do you think???

Another Manic Monday

Hello! I had a fairly exciting weekend, but am glad to have a new week started. I have a lot of stuff to accomplish this week and then we have a wedding to attend on Saturday. We are excited about that.

I am excited for a fun-filled TV week. With the finales coming up this month, it'll be exciting to see how the shows end on cliffhangers! Tonight is Prison Break and apparently it is the start of the break (FINALLY!!!) Then it's AI on Tuesday and Wednesday. We have CSI: and Without a Trace on Friday and Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy on Sunday!!! WOOHOO!!!

How was your weekend?

Eagles!

I love Eagles. I think they are fascinating. Anyway, a co-worker sent me an email with a link to watch an Eagle sit on the eggs until they hatch. They somehow set up a camera to catch it! How neat! So check it out. There is a notice on the page that some times it takes a while because of the amount of people trying to watch! Enjoy and let me know what you think!

This banner is curtosy of goofy girl
Thirteen Things that I Ponder....
1. Do you think that hobos still ride on open trains (I always think of the boxcar children when I watch a train go by)
2. Why do you park on a driveway and drive on a parkway?
3. I was rearranging our fridge and freezer to fit more food in and it hit me that the freezer doesn't have a light, but the fridge does...why?
4. Does the alphabet song and twinkle twinkle have the same tune?
(You just sang them didn't you!!!)
5. How is it that I can eat hamburger and pork just fine, but when it comes
to deer hunting, I think that's wrong? (I swear it's the whole Bambi thing)
6. Why is it that we complain about gas prices, but we are still driving huge
SUV's and still drive to a place just down the road? (I'm guilty of it too, but I
just wonder why we don't change something then!)
7. Why is it that I can not seem to stop biting my finger nails...now I do it
without even knowing it and I hate it!!!! (Any suggestions?)
8. Why is it that work goes by soooo slow, but then after work, it's already 10pm?
9. I just took my puppy to the vet for my parents a couple weeks ago and
she HATES it when we blow in her face, but she was more than happy to
put her head out the window on the way to the vet...why is that?
10. (I got this one from my cousin) Why do they call it an asteroid when it’s outside the hemisphere but a hemorrhoid when it is in you ass ?
11. Why is it that everyone visits the blogs on Thursdays, but don't read the
rest of the week? Are we boring the other 6 days?
12. Why is it that we know fast food restaurants are horrible for us, yet we
still find ourselves driving there are a long day at work?
13. Why do people just leave "mine are up" when they comment on your
TT. Can't you find anything to comment on out of these 13 things?
I'll add you throughout the day so make sure to leave a comment (like #13 says!!!)

Self-tagged!

I tagged myself from Goofy girl!

1) Total number of books I own?
I honestly could not even begin to count them. I still have books at my parents house in storage. Whew!

2) The last book I bought?
I haven't bought a book in a while, but I believe it was "Night" by Elie Wiesel (The new Oprah Book Club Book!) I haven't read it yet though.

3) The last book I read?
I just finished "My Sister's Keeper"!!!! It is AWESOME! I highly recommend this book to anyone! Seriously. Very very good. I was sad to get to the end.

4) What I am currently reading?
Well, I haven't started another book yet, because I just finished "My Sister's Keeper" last night, but I have a new Iris Johansen book "No Where to Run" (I believe!!!) sitting on my night stand.

5) Five books that have meant a lot to me or that I loved the most
"My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
All of the Harry Potter books
All of the Janet Evanovich books (it's a great series!)
To Kill a Mockingbird
Janet Fluke's books (they have great recipes too!!)

If you want to play, tag yourself! I don't want to make anyone do this (especially for those who don't like to read!)

My Birthday Flowers :-)

Well, I said I would post pictures of my flowers and I figured out how to get them loaded, so here they are! The pink roses are really blooming now and they look just fabulous! I love getting flowers and I don't get them often so when I do get them, I try to make them last as long as possible!!!! Enjoy the pictures.

My favorite day of the year!

Well, today is my favorite day of the year! Fiance got home from work last night with two things of flowers for me and some presents. Then he took me out for dinner. My parents are coming today so he wanted to make it special last night and it definitely was. When I get the pictures uploaded, I'll share the flowers because they are BEAUTIFUL! (I am, however, biased!)

Thank you for all the birthday wishes...I do appreciate them! Well, I am off to finish up a little cleaning, make some cookies and then read and relax til my parents show up!

Oh and just in case anyone cares, I was born right around this time (as a C-section) and weighed in at 7lbs 11 oz and 19 inches long. My mom was knocked out for the birth so my dad was the first to hold me. My mom found out she had a girl after coming to and then puked. I don't know if that was a good sign or not!!!

Have wonderful Fridays everyone!

***Update*** By the way...from my 13 list yesterday, #9 (about getting hiking boots)...well fiance took it upon himself to get me some and give them to me for my birthday! I had a good laugh, but they do have pink in them so I do believe I am okay :-) They are the wrong size, so I need to go in and exchange them, but he did pick up a great pair (oh and ps...they don't go over my ankles....yes!!!!!)

My 2nd "official" Thursday 13

Thirteen Things about Amy

1. I hate mornings. No matter which way I look at them, I just don't like them. I fight myself every morning that I have to be up.

2. I am an only child, but I never enjoyed it when I was younger. I always wanted siblings until college and then I appreciated being the only one.

3. I am very close to my parents. I talk to them daily.

4. My first puppy, Cashew, is 13 1/2 now. She is deaf and blind and is becoming senile. It's hard to make the decision to put her down. She really is a part of the family.

5. My grandma will be 80 this summer (she lives in FL). The only thing she wanted for her birthday was to come up here to WI to go to an hold restaurant she always enjoyed. So that's what we're doing for her!

6. My birthday is tomorrow and I'll be 24 (yikes!) Where has the time gone?

7. The apartment the fiance and I are in now is my 1st apartment besides my parent's house and living at school!

8. I love keeping track of the bills and writing out the checks. I enjoy doing all the banking stuff until....my checkbook doesn't balance! That's so annoying!

9. I need to buy hiking boots. I've been putting it off because I don't like shoes that go over my ankles, however, fiance informed me that's what they're for (to protect the ankles!) I'm still putting it off....

10. My parents are bringing down a bunch of their old camping stuff so hopefully fiance and I can go camping some time soon. We're hoping for next weekend. This weekend I believe we are going hiking (which means I need to do #9)

11. I am very afraid of bees. I was stung when I was little and have been afraid since then.

12. I do a lot of driving for my job and because of that, I have learned to LOVE music. It's very relaxing when I have to drive long distances to pop in a mixed CD and sing at the top of my lungs. Time goes by faster too.

13. I had a hard time with this week. For some reason, I couldn't come up with 13 things very easily. Usually, I have these done in less than 5 min. Happy Thursday!

What is my inner child?

Your Inner Child Is Surprised
You see many things through the eyes of a child. Meaning, you're rarely cynical or jaded. You cherish all of the details in life.Easily fascinated, you enjoy experiencing new things.
You Are a Learning Cook
You've got the makings of an excellent cook, and the desire to be one.But right now, you're just lacking the experience. You couldn't be a top chef yet, but you could be an apprentice.

Lyrics of the Week

I will listen to almost any type of music. Lately I've been listening to more country and I don't know why. I used to be big into country and then starting to listening to other things and now I'm back.

I decided to pick these lyrics this week because with having a wedding coming up the fiance and I have been looking at music to play and just hearing songs that we like (he doesn't like country for the record). So here we go...every time I hear this song, I turn it up and sing out loud :-)

Phil Vassar
The Last Day of My Life

I just left Bobby's house:
The service was today.
Got me thinkin' about how fragile life is,
As I drove away.
You know Amy was his only love,
In a moment she was gone, long gone:
It could have been me or you.
Oh, baby, there's no time to lose.

So I'm gonna bring home a dozen roses,
An' pour us a glass of wine.
An' I'm gonna put on a little music,
An' turn down the lights.
An' I'm gonna wrap my arms around you,
An' rock you all through the night,
An' I'm gonna love you,
Like it's the last day of my life.

Another Manic Monday...wait, it's Tuesday!

Today was, ahem, is long. I drove 2 1/2 hours ONE WAY to get to a work meeting that lasted 4 hours and then turned around and drove another 2 1/2 hours to get home. Needless to say, I had a lot of windshield time. Some random semi honked at me...good time. So I pulled over on the next exit thinking that either a) I had a flat tire or b) my gas cap was open (I was so tired today!) Well, it was neither and I was pissed. So I get back on the highway and eventually caught back up with the semi and he has the nerve to honk again! I mean, come on...seriously? Oh yes, apparently so. I just sped up and passed him hoping he wouldn't come around again. That's very nerve wracking. I already hate semis and driving by them and then to have one honk, not once, but twice is just not fun.

Anyway, I watched American Idol tonight and did not, I repeat did not enjoy Kelly at.all. She did not do a good job and she was correct in saying it was butchered. I am hoping to see her leave tomorrow. I enjoy Taylor...he's a riot to watch and one of the only performers that fiance will watch with me. He gets a kick out of Taylor as well!!!

I'm debating having "Song Lyrics of the Week" to post on here. Just something different to throw around. I'll keep you posted. I've been enjoying seeing Janet's and others posting 6 random things only three of which are true. I'm also debating doing that. I don't know how much fun mine would be!

Well, it's late and I must sleep! Oh I see that Katie Holmes finally popped out her child...thank God! I was beginning to think the only news coverage on TV would be her walking around waiting for her water to break (sorry, I'm not a huge fan!)

I better go before I get bad comments about not posting when I'm crabby! Forgive me for needing to vent! Good night....I must sleep!

I've been tagged!

Nicole has tagged me. This is my first tag. Here goes...

1. I have had around 8 or 9 kidney stones and they are VERY painful! I would not recommend it to anyone--not even people I didn't like.

2. My first Easter meal turned out GREAT! Nobody got sick (haha) and everyone ate a lot of food.

3. I am an only child, but when I was young, my mom ran a daycare and there was one girl who I called my "sister" and have since then. She's moving closer to me and I can't wait!!!

4. I wanted to be a teacher when I was younger and then wanted to be a German teacher. I ended up doing social work instead because I decided I didn't want to have a classroom and would rather work with families and children.

5. I hate almost all vegetables! I have never enjoyed them and will only a few. I am also very picky about the fruit I will eat. I am just an all around picky eater!

6. I love the spring and the fall. The spring because everything is blooming and it always smells so fresh and the fall for the beautiful changing of the leaves and it's cooler, but not too cold!

Now, who do I tag????

Goofy Girl
fondofsnape
Gone to Plaid
ames
undercover_angel
Fireflies&Frogs

Here are the rules of this tag:
1.Go write weird facts/things/etc. about yourself in my comment box and on your blog, then tag six more people!
2. Then leave a comment that says “You are tagged” in their comments telling them to read your blog. ENJOY!

Saturday, April 15, 2006

Just another Saturday....

Well, Saturday is going fairly smoothly, but Friday was not a fun day! I woke up around 2am Friday morning and was very uncomfortable. After about an hour, I woke up the fiance and told him that I believed that I had yet *another* kidney stone. He asked if we should go to the ER and I told him that I didn't know. I was in way too much pain to be making decisions.

We ended up going to the ER around 3:45 and were there until around 8am. They gave me an IV and some nice drugs to put in there. All my blood work came back fine, but they did declare that I indeed had a kidney stone. So, they sent me off with prescriptions and told me to come back if it got worse. I slept most of the day away and fiance stayed home in the morning with me and went to work for the afternoon.

I woke up this morning feeling better and only with some slight pain. It's slowly going away which I'm hoping meant I passed the damn thing! This is about my 10th one (I think I'm being generous with that number) and the pain still hurts every time! Fiance and I are going for a "NO MORE STONES" policy :-) We'll see how that works.

Now today just cleaning up the apartment and doing little errands to prepare for Easter tomorrow. My parents are coming down here to celebrate and I'm making my 1st Easter meal. Wish me luck

Happy Easter to all those who celebrate it!

Wednesday Night Results Show

I watched American Idol tonight and was really hoping that some body who sang bad last night *AHEM* (ace) would be going home. Yeah yeah yeah, I know, but he's soooooo cute. Well, cute only gets you so far. I don't think he has the best voice or even the strongest voice. Anyway, I like Elliott. I've said it from the beginning. He's unique and I enjoy listening to his voice. I also enjoy Bucky from time to time. He sings some good songs and has that country thing going for him. I was upset that Elliott was in the bottom three but I guess I understood. I knew Bucky would only be on for so long, so tonight we say SO LONG to Bucky and wish him the best. I wonder what Rod Stewart will bring for us next week. I'm anxious to know what Chris (the rocker) will do for Rod. Hmmm...something to ponder until it's on again next Tuesday :-)

Frustration!

Okay, now this may seem like a simple thing to most people, but honestly, how the H E double hockey sticks can I make the Blogroll names SMALLER. They take up the whole side and then some go on the bottom. I love that they are there (new friends, yay!), but they take up SO MUCH ROOM. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. To top it off, I can't find in the template where I put the link, so that's not helpful either.

Off to make dinner, who knows what'll be yet....

Blingo craze!

Okay, I am officially into the BLINGO craze! I've heard about it for a while now and have finally joined. Help me and you both win prizes by joining. I was very skeptical too but have seen that it really is legit and now have seen people who win! No strings attached. What's the harm in trying? Officially crazy!!!

Okay, I think that I am officially crazy. I went and met with my advisor today about grad. school and I seriously think I'm in for more than I bargined. Don't get me wrong, I'm not turning back now...but wow!!! I will definitely have my hands full. I am very lucky in the fact that I have an AMAZING sister who is going to be a God send when it comes to this wedding. She is so willing to help with *everything* that I feel better about it.

So I'm going back to work now to figure out how to juggle full-time school, full-time work...oh yes and planning a wedding *SIGH*

Habits

So I read some where a couple weeks ago that if you want to start a new habit or break yourself of one, you need to do it for 21 days at least in order to make it a habit.

So I have a habit that I want to break....biting my finger nails. I hate that I do it.

So...today is Day 1 of Operation Stop the Biting!!!!

Only 20 days to go til I don't do it any more :-)

Wish me luck!

Update

THE FURNITURE IS HERE!!!

Well, the couch, chair and ottoman is. They forgot to put the coffee table and end tables on the order...hrmph! So now those will come on Wednesday. Oh well, better late than never I guess!

Copy cat

I decided to steal my sister's idea of her layout...check out her blog too....it's on the links on the side. She is graduating soon and has some mixed feeling about moving on. It's a good blog, so check it out and leave her a message saying I sent you :-)

A late one...again

Hello,
Yes, I am late with updating this again. Seems to be a tradition around here. Oh well...it's my blog and if I'm late writing an update, who cares, right?

I'm just going to do 13 random things because I can't think of a theme this week and honestly, I don't have the creativity today either.

1. Matt and I get new living room furniture today! A new couch, chair, ottoman, coffee table, and 2 end tables....fabulous!

2. My sister graduates in under a month and I just can't believe it....seems like yesterday we were playing together at Tiny Tots.

3. So this week at work has SUCKED...too many people whining and crisises happening everywhere...EVERYONE JUST CALM DOWN FOR 1 DAY!!!

4. I know the photographer that I want for the wedding and I've talked with him, but we can't seem to find a day to get together in Appleton and I don't want him to be booked by someone else!

5. I've been under a lot of stress lately (can you tell????) to be able to figure out grad. school, full time job and planning the wedding....I am honestly getting a headache just thinking about.

6. I do miss my parents...I keep telling myself that I'm almost 24 and I shouldn't need to be by my parents so much, but then I remind myself that I'm one of the lucky few to honestly love my parents and want to be with them so much...so then I allow myself to miss them again :-)

7. I miss the Eau Claire that I left last May. Going back now it's not the same nor will it ever be again. Looking back, college is fun and was such a unique time in my life and I will never forget it!

8. I've also realized that in order for me to grow into the person I want to become, I needed to leave Eau Claire and everything that meant. I could not achieve my goals in life in EC and I am learning to accept that.

9. I honestly am very excited to be starting my graduate program this fall. Who knew that I would be going for a Master's degree? That just seemed so far away...

10. I am excited about asking my bridesmaid's to stand up in the wedding. Matt and I agreed to 3 each and I can't wait to ask. We didn't want to ask too early but now it's getting exciting!

11. I have a lot of paperwork to get done today and all I can think about is the new furniture that could be here any minute now (we have a 9:30-12:30 time slot). Woohoo!!!

12. I'm on call this week and I don't like being on call. It means that I have to have my cell phone by me at all times and have to be careful when being out after business hours in case there is a call. Oh well, it's only about every 3 1/2-4 months.

13. Wow, this is 13 already huh? I didn't think I was going to be creative and then I just took off. Hope you enjoyed them. Leave me comments for goodness sakes!

MC Hammer

Okay, this is too funny not to share! MC Hammer has a blog....wow. Do you think blogs can make washed out celebrates stars again? Who knows...anything can happen!

Check out his blog. He has lots of pictures of himself. LOL!

Wow, I'm not on the ball lately

Well, I have officially missed TWO Thursday 13's and never updated on RENT!

Rent was amazing by the way...Matt didn't enjoy it, but then again, I didn't really expect that he would. I loved it though! It was my second time seeing it preformed and it was worth the money. I'm telling you...if you haven't seen it performed....go see it!!!

Now on to a 13....

13 Things--Anniversary Edition

Matt and I will celebrate two years on the 15th (next Wednesday!)

1. We met through a friend, before a Matt Wertz concert at Acoustic

2. He proposed in Elk Mound while he had broncitis (and on our 1 year anniversary!)

3. We are getting married August 11, 2007

4. We both want to honeymoon some place exotic like St. Lucia or Fiji :-)

5. We have only had 3 really big fights

6. We both want a puppy but don't agree on the type...we also can't because our apartment managers are mean and don't like dogs!

7. We are both very sarcastic which can be a positive and a negative!

8. He is older than me by a little over 2 years!

9. We have very different personalities, he loves to be active and go on adventures, I would rather curl up and watch a movie or hang out at home with friends.

10. I snore, Matt doesn't

11. I get the underground parking spot and Matt's car has to live outside

12. Matt makes me laugh with his humor and jokes, I make Matt laugh with my silliness and attempts at making jokes!

13. We both love each other very much and can't believe we're at two years already! Wow how times flies!
